Product Hunt – A Cool, Hip, Innovative Way to Share New Products

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of Tweets on my Twitter Feed regarding products being showcased/featured on a service called Product Hunt. I literally had no idea what it was, and thought it was just something people were using to “self-promote” and spam their users. However, I decided to do a little due diligence on what exactly Product Hunt was. To my amazement, it was something much more. The service is a unique innovative way to help entrepreneurs alike, showcase their products or new features. According to their website:

Product Hunt surfaces the best new products, every day. It’s a place for product-loving enthusiasts to share and geek out about the latest mobile apps, websites, hardware projects, and tech creations.

It’s like a social media platform for tech geeks and product developers, to share within a community of like minded folk. As I continued to browse through the site, there were some really cool products being featured. Not only were new gimmicks and services being showcased, but it also had other aspects like Venture Capital tips, startup advice, and much more. This is a haven for entrepreneurs like myself and many others. Product Hunt is the real deal, and it also doesn’t hurt that they’re backed by some heavy hitters such as Google Ventures, BetaWorks, Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and many others.

The platform itself is very simple to use and easy to follow. Anyone can sign up and submit their product. However, just like any other valid platform that is legitimate, the community has the right to review (through votes) as to whether they think your product is innovative or unique. If you do not get the right amount of votes, Product Hunt can remove your submission (see here for FAQs via Product Hunt). If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur or a die hard developer, I highly suggest you check out Product Hunt for yourselves.
